The people of Ladakh, high up in the Western Himalayas, still have strong connections to the psychic energies of gods and demons through their belief in Tantric Buddhism. The Geshe (a professor of metaphysics) could fly if he wanted, say the peasants in the remote valley, but he refuses; it is inmoral to practice magic. Nevertheless a young man seduces a girl by magic techniques.

Kuby filmed with Ladakhies before they had contact with civilisation. Mrs Rigupa forinstance has two husbands, both fathers for her children: a method to check the population increase. The film shows the Buddhist culture, as it existed in Tibet before the Chinese invasion.
